I love October! The weather starts to break (sort of in south Texas), it’s football season, it’s HALLOWEEN season, even basketball preseason starts! Our wedding was in October because it’s my favorite month. It’s the beginning of the holiday season and as a small business owner, there’s no reason you can’t join in the fun! When it comes to relationships, you have to be relate-able. So let your business let lose!
2. Come up with something season related. Pumpkin, maple, spiced, everyone loves PSL season! Even if you are not in the food/drink area you can still get in the fall theme. Clothes, jewelry, home decor, the sky is the limit when it comes to selling fall related items. Get creative and get spooky!
3. Plan a fall/Halloween themed event. Bars and restaurants can easily throw a Halloween party, costume contest or just spooky themed bash. Retail could host a trick-or-treat event, a themed vendor event or even a fall festival with other local businesses!
Holidays can be such a fun time of year if you choose to embrace it and they can be a great way to market creatively! Keep an eye out for fall festivals to be a part of, football teams to sponsor and fun ways to get your business into the season. These same principles can be applied to all holidays as we move through the end of the year. So break out the fall leaves, pumpkins and maybe a skeleton or two and turn up your fall marketing plans.
